    Hi

I have been suffering from the old 'confidence' problem since getting back into Heli flying.

This year has so far been a mixture of frustration with the Trex and panic with the cost of crashing the Shuttle.

Hence my flying has been poor to say the least. One good buddy session at our club showed me that I can fly but without the safety of the buddy lead I have still been slow getting into fff and other stuff.

Steve (The Manager) has been very supportive up the club but I still have not 'let go' in Obi-Wan speak.

That was until I went to the 3DX funfly on Friday.

I drove a round trip of 240 miles for one fly of the Shuttle. (Weather was rubbish)

I don't know what it was, maybe the limited 3D air space, or maybe the gusty wind conditions, or maybe the croud of 3D experts watching as an old Shuttle took to the air, that kept my small left right circuits tight and small, but all I can say is that I could not wait to get flying today.

I took the Trex to my old flying field and basically have had a GREAT days flying (relatives from America meant I could not get up the proper flying field)

The Trex flew faultlessly to such an extent that I was piroing the thing with abandon and circuits were actually FUN!!!

At the moment my confidence has returned and I am looking forward to flying tomorrow and putting the Shuttle through its paces.

The reason for this post is simply to say to anyone in my position, go for it, you know you want too

    What a fab hobby

    Cheers

    Mark

PS. Hope I don't ding the Shuttle having said all this waffle.

PPS. For those on a budget, the CSM LW200 and Futaba 3110 Gyro/Servo combination works very well

i find my flying changes after flyins too. i think its flying infront of all those people. it makes flying at the field seem so much more relaxed!

      You are so right Ade.

Imagine the scene, surrounded by nothing but Trex 600's, Vibes, an ion, Sceadu and Knight 50 and ............my Shuttle

When I put it on the field I thought I heard a faint laugh from the small croud of 3D guy's.

I have never been so nervous.

But then I thought of an old saying someone told me, "It may be cr@p, but it's MY cr@p!!"

So off I went and had a blast.

Brilliant tonic and I had a great time with the 450 today.

      Cheers

Glad to see it all coming together for you Mark.
I love my 450 trex to it's taught me to let go.
I have only just got my Raptor 30 back in the air today & I think I am getting on top of flying figures of 8 now with it.
Pete was very impressed with how I was hooning it about.
I can get my 8's banked right over now pulling full pitch to keep it coming round. I still cant fly it at myself happily tho.
I put the fact that my flying is coming together down to the little rex everyone should go out & buy one imho.
Unfortunately the 600 trex electric due to batt costs is holding me back so I am going to put it to one side or maybe sell it & buy a Knight 3d glow is the only way to go.
The only electric worth it's keep is the 450 se v2.

              Mark,

Your fine and your flying was spot on. The lack of open space was doing my head in... Sports flying I needed more room with the other machine 3Ding to my left put me right off... The Hedge to close...

feel far better at the local site with the open space!

But the shuttle handled that wind fine. You know it doesn't falter go give it some abuse

                          Cheers Steve

                          Really enjoyed that flight

Shame about the earlier PCM lockout on the Trex though

Mind you, even that didn't spoil the day

Again, thanks for your help and for letting me near your transmitter

                          Cheers
