  • Bootcamp or Aerofly 5.

I am in two minds at the moment regarding sim choice on my iMac. Do I buy Aerofly 5 which is native, or do I buy Win 7 (XP not compatible with bootcamp in Lion) and use Phoenix? I am just finding it hard to get my head around Windows on a Mac .

    Hi
I use parallel's with windows 7 on my iMac with lion. As far as I'm aware Xp will run through parallels on Lion. But go to the Parallels website for latest info.

Phoenix runs very well through parallels.

Okay Aerofly is a very decent and powerful sim and works a treat I know because I have it and theres even one in the forsale section I belive.

Now Aerofly needs time spent setting it up but it works and while it has helicopters do not expect it to be the same as pheonix because it isn't but the pyshics are very good.

you can download models if you look in the right places and read how to install them!

check the aerofly sim section on the forum for more info

My Mac has no Windows software on it and I have never needed windows software in years at home.

My flying buddy has Phoenix on an iMac with windows vista running parallel and it runs the same as it does on my PC, that would be my choice.

It seems to me like half the forum members got a Mac for Christmas, as this same thread just keeps popping up fresh every 2 days or so.

Can we encourage people to use the search facility on the site, or even make this (or one of the others) thread a sticky?

Adsmalan - if you need a copy of Windows 7 (Ultimate) to install on a Bootcamp partition, PM me.

I bought my iMac when the latest models came out but have spent since then deciding on a sim. I have searched the forums but wanted to do a last ditch post as I know Aerofly 5 is relatively new sim and there may be someone that can compare it to Phoenix. Most of the posts relate to the Aerofly platinum edition.
Steve, once I decide on which route to take I will let you know about your offer. Thanks.

I went Parallels too. Did have bootcamp set up but I never used Windows on it more than twice because of the reboot process. Parallels is a dream come true.

Disc, can you clarify what you mean by 'do not expect it to be the same as Phoenix' please.

Well its not the same, Planes were better in Aerofly last time I flew pheonix and Aerofly

Graphics probably not as good but more than good enough

You have to tinker more to get the best out of the Sim, and adding models is not as easy but easy enough.

You do not get updates every 5 mins like Pheonix

You cannot fly online with others.
