Century UK Nano SR.

Hello everyone, my name is Vikki and I'm a newbie to helicopter flying. I'll put my story up in the beginners section a bit later (when I have more time) but for now I wonder what any of you know about the Nano SR before I get one. I can't find any reviews on it to judge reliability.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

I just googled it, and an MSR or an MSRX would be much better choices imo, as there are more people with them, they are almost impossible to break and if you do spares are cheap.

Just watched a vid on youtube and it looks okay. You can't expect much really for £50 but it'll get you the basics and it says they've got all spares. Theres a few stockists so you may not have any issues getting hold of bits and pieces. It seems to have a bit of speed and with it being 2.4 and infra red you can take it outside when it's not windy.

Good luck with it, you may want to consider other options though such as 1 of the Eflite range

Hi Vikki, welcome to the habit!!!
The heli you are looking at is OK for what it costs, it has good spares support (which is important) but will not be as easy to fly as a coaxial (double contra rotating blades), if you are up for a challenge it would be ok.
The Eflite Blade series are better but cost more, of their range I would recommend the mcx2 (coax) or msr-x (single blade), the msr-x is also more sophisticated.
Go for what you are comfortable spending and how much of a challenge you want to take on.

Hey, Welcome to the forum

Personally, i would advise you to buy the Blade MSR or Blade MSR X, I say this because Eflite (Blade) is one of the Biggest RC Heli Brands, their products are reliable and you can always source spare parts.

Also if you ever decide to upgrade parts of your heli, there are always upgrades available with decent branded products, you also get good customer support with the bigger, better brands.


Both the MSR and MSR X are 4 channel, which allows you to fly in all directions (forwards, backwards, yaw to the left/right, Roll to the left/right, up and down).

I could also advise you to get a decent transmitter for your model, you will be saving a lot of money in the long run


Some Heli's i'd recommend to you:

- MSR X
- MSR
- CX3

DX6I Transmitter


It may seem a lot of cr*p to take it, but i'm sure others will help aswell

Hmmmm, interesting advice indeed, for which I'm grateful. I was looking at the msr but the site I was viewing it on said it was an obsolete model and recommended the Nano. It would appear that's not strictly true.

I was looking for an indoor plaything for when I can't play outside with my Blade 120 SR. Only just learnt to hover Blizzard (my pet name for him).

To make things a little easier I'll cut and paste an email I sent to the shop today and their reply (which I agree with). I would welcome another take. Here it is:

"My husband and me will be coming to your shop on Saturday to purchase some
items but I could do with some assistance beforehand.

I'm using Real Flight Basic at the moment and own a Blade 120 SR. Real
Flight I picked up for £40 second hand but I find it too basic and doesn't
have the heli's that interest me. Therefore I wish to buy Phoenix V3.

I have a budget of £200 (birthday money) and I can either get Phoenix and a
DX6i transmitter or the complete Phoenix kit and a Century Nano SR.

The reason I'm considering the DX6i option is I can use it on my 120 SR and
Phoenix. Then, if I do well, I can use it on a bind 'n' fly 450 later.
Problem with that is I don't get a baby SR to practice with indoors. Is the
Nano suitable for indoors flight or is it a little too big.

The problem is that both options are equally appealing and I'm hoping that
you may have additional insight as to which way I should jump.

As an aside, the heli I get later need not be 3D capable. A regular heli
would be fine (3D scares me). In that case would the DX5? that comes with
the full Phoenix suit for that and my 120 SR?

This is the reply:

"Would assume, from the details of the email that your 'end goal' is to own
and fly a 450 size helicopter. Having spoken with a member of staff who has
been flying for many years and also carriers out servicing and testing on
all types of helicopters for customers, his suggestion would be to go for
the Phoenix simulator and a DX6i transmitter. The simulator is one of the
most popular on the market and does offer a good model selection and allows
scope to down load new models from manufactures site and a full range of
varying flight options. The DX6i transmitter can be used with the Bade 120
SR, the simulator and any future model like a Blade 450. Unless there is a
particular reason, we would not suggest going for a Century Nano,
concentrating on the model you already have along with the Phoenix simulator
should allow you to go for a 450 model in the spring/summer depending on
flying hours available to you."

Hopefully that should help in where I am at and where I am (hopefully) heading.

Oh! I'm finding Real Flight Basic to be a bit, well, strange in its physics. However, I've spent about 15 hours on the trainer heli while I was awaiting a new tail boom for Blizzard. Before I got it I was hopeless with Blizzard. His parts arrived today and I tried to fly him and actually managed to hover him and bring him back when he tried to abscond. Me so pleaseeeed!

Congrats vikki , that's some achievement ! with blizzard .
Go with Pheonix v3 and a dx6i ,
It's just my opinion but if space indoors is limited I would go for a e flite blade mcx2 or maybe an Msrx , either would be great practice and fun ,and either will teach you the basics.

viki, I am brand new to this forum, but regularly use another as well so this is my first post.....yipeee!! I was a newbie last year and the best advice is already coming your way. Get the Eflite Blade msr (probably cheaper) or msrx, + a dx6itx and the Phoenix sim, you can't go wrong. I have the original MSR, dx6i and the sim and it is great for indoors training, for orientation and fun. The dx6i will be great when you move on to 400 size....I have a Blade 400 and am just getting to grips with nose in hover. Thera are loads of suppliers for these and spares are plentiful. Just shout if you ned any more info.

The MSR looks perfect for an indoor practiser but given I'm going Phoenix and DX6i I'm out of budget for this month. Still, there's always..... Next month!

It was Kings Lynn models saying the MSR is discontinued and an Amazon preferred merchant wants £120!!!

Yeah, I didn't realise you already had a 120 sr, so I would say get phoenix and the dx6i. So therefore you can use the dx6i on the 120 sr and program the heli to your liking

What they all forgot to say was this is really going to be the quick route to bankrupcy .... Today a dx6i and a 120sr.... This time next year we will hear the moaning and whinging because the 18MZ, TDR, and van full of Fright power is drilling a hole in the electricty bill so deep you can see New Zealand...

Beware the very addictive nature of very shiny bigga and betta beaters that have ever slower head speeds.... It seems to permeate the brain and affects the abilty of the pocket to sucessfully retain the credt card.... There are some shoppes that dont help they have their version of coffee on free vend whenyou see this be very very careful.... (most think there is somthing in it)
