  • What do you wash your chopper with?

Ive just been sitting here with toothbrush, cotton buds, tissues and cloth trying to remove engine remnants and fuel deposits from my helis, and I just started wondering what other people on here use to clean theirs with.

Ive a spray bottle of one of the mr muscle cleaners that works well on film covered planks also a bottle of soapy water. but I got to thinking there has to be a better way. A friend of mine uses white spirit to cut through the fuel but im hesitant to use that or water on my heli and to be honest now im going inverted a little more its getting dirtier than ever.
    All the best
    Tony.

I use those moist diy wipes for hand cleaning that work on oils and paints. You get a smooth side and a roughish side ideal for those stubborn stains.

Tesco cheep baby wipes they clean all the flies off and have just enough solvent in them to shift fuell residue without scratching the anodising / paint. You need somthing like a scrubby pad on the exaust cuase tahts baked on. (i use ultrasonic cleaner at work for that one)

For that once in a while extra clean I use Nitro Blast sold for RC cars which actually seems pretty much like Brake & Clutch cleaner for the local car parts shop but don't spray direct onto bearings. I also find this pretty good for degreasing areas before using self adhesive velcro or the like, just spray a bit on a kitchen towel.

Other than that I find the floor wipes the missus buys usually last long enough to clean a couple of helis in one hit.

Engineering / workshop hand cleaning wipes, they work a treat, and they clean you hands as well.
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

                    And a DX8 too
