Duxfords latest air show

If you'd like to take a look at some of the images I took at the other weeks air show at Duxford here's a link to my photographic forum.

The conditions were terrible misty hazy light, plus I've found out my Canon has an underexposure manufacturing fault, it's back at Canon Service Dept now being corrected, so anyway here a link

Hi great photos there thanks for showing them, just a small note for ya the film The Memphis Belle was shoot at north weald airfield just down the M11 and not at Duxford , this is also the same place they done some of the filming for band of brothers.

Nice shots Wayne. What lens did you use for the flying shots?

I like the Iraqi supergun section. Believe it or not, in one of my old MOD jobs I had my hand up inside a section of the Iraqi supergun; quite impressive machining

Will definitely see about getting round your place one day soon - been a bit ill of late, but better now.

The gun part was machined and polished to a fantastic standard, and standing next to it was quite strange.

Sorry to hear you've been feeling poorly mate, I've haven't mentioned it as I thought you've been busy enough what with packing for your move to Aus and all.

nice pics mate,my mum and step dad live on a nature reserve at kirkby on bayne,its where my wifes mums great grandad guy gibbson and the other dambusters kept the lanks before they went on there bombing run,its realy weard when you go for a work in the woods at dusk there is always a mist in there and a sence there is somthing going on,these still the big rings in the floor where the tied the lanks down,there is a place down the road,i cant remember the name,where they have made a place out to look like the 1940s,and they bring out a lank with a tractor on to the run way,they then start all four engines,then they taxi it up and back down a small runway,its that close to you the prop is about 20 ft away from you,its awsome,

Just out of interest, the original film 'Memfis Belle' was shot at the old Binbrook Lightning station. During the filming it all went a bit pair shaped when the Belle actually did catch fire!!!!!
The airfield referred to regarding the Lancaster and its taxi runs is East Kirkby near Boston. The Panton brothers spent 13 years negotiating before they managed to get the Lanc., which was gate guardian at RAF Scampton for many years. They also have a two-seater Spit. which does regular displays.

was there more than one film then??

Gyros you are correct, i done a little searching and its seems they done 1 part of the film at north weald and the rest and most was filmed at old Binbrook Lightning station,

Thanks you Reg, that place sounds fantastic, and the old Lanc's must have a special meaning to you with what you mentioned.

If you remember what that place was and where I'd love to know.
