  • What's your favourite pitch gauge?

I've been giving myself brain ache trying to sort my collective and cyclic pitches out and finally realised that my gauge isn't reading correctly! .
    I can't get eqaul +/- pitch.
I noticed that at zero the blades (by eye) look like there's a bit of negative so I zero'd them and then flipped the gauge round and find it now shows a load of positive pitch!!
It's a cheap JP gauge cos that's all my LHS had. Thought it would be good enough. WRONG!

What's the most accorate one on the market??

Pitch guages aren't all that accurate really - they'll get you somewhere pretty close - thats it.

I use one with a flat edge on top and 15 degrees pos and neg markings on it. I don't recall the make, but a K & S back plate looks quite similar - although mine has a metal backplate, not plastic.

    It works ok.

    Cheers,

I know none of them are 100% accurate but it would be useful if mine at least read somewhere CLOSE to zero!

I use anybody's who says 'I have' when I say ' has anybody got a pitch gauge'
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

                  And a DX8 too

I've been using a Minature Aircraft pitch gauge I've had for around 15 years and probably paid a stupidly high price for in those days. I had to think a little about how to use it on the flybarless head on my Logo, at least zero degrees is easy without a pitch gauge, just fold the blades back at 90 degrees to the grips and move the collective stick, when the blades are in a straight line you are at zero
