  • night flying?

In a bid to fend off impending WDS* (our government will soon ignor public opinion and robs us of our daylight hour) I find myself considering equipping my helis with night fly gear (already established I can fly until 9.00pm at the club field irrespective of daylight).
Trouble is it’s a pretty lonely place at our field in the evening (most club members are retired and are only there in the day).
I’m already there flying on my own a lot, now I’m thinking of adding cold and dark into the danger equation…
Suppose I should at least swap mobile providers so my phone actually works!
    How crazy am I?

Get yourself some of the new Align night blades for your Trex450.
Then buy the night flying kit from www.surelight.com
    It's wicked

    Cheers,

Night flying is great fun. Not as hard as you think it willl be. It can get quite mesmerizing though and sometimes hard to find the ground.
      Cheers Matt

On my first ever night flight (last week!) I felt very detatched from the heli. It was quite surreal.

I definitely want to put night blades on my 600n with the rest of the lighting though... I think it will make a huge difference.
It looked like a headless heli
        LOL

Did you fly it without night blades?

              Yes - just glow ropes.
              Canopy, skids, boom and fins.
Two glow sticks on skids for backup plan
The lights went out on the second flight (dodgy connection on the main driver board), but the tail boom is on a second light driver, so luckily the boom stayed on, and the glow sticks marked out the skids - so I got it right way up and level, then carefully landed it
Quite freaky for a few moments
              LOL
              Cheers,

Running the lights off the Rx pack is an extra indicator to show you if you charged the Rx pack!

Who sells the align night blades and for how much?
I can only find MS ones for £40...

Does anone do a package with the strings and the blades?

                450 size and .50 size!

Real Raptors sell the Align night blade "kit".
They also sell the Align glow rope kits - but I have no experience of those kits so can't comment on them?

                  Cheers,
