Runnin a 2s motor at 3s ?

First off hiya everyone not posted for a while due to four wheeled commitments and trying to start my own business . So merry xmas and happy new year for next week :-) . Just been chattin to a friend thats running a scorpion 2s motor in his 250 on 3s packs and recons there no ill side effects . Whats the difference? Surly somthings going to give out sooner or later either killing the motor or speed controller ? Anyone done it .
