How Low Can You Go?

Inverted Had a brilliant mornings flying at ARA, about 8 of us there in total which is the most heli pilots ive ever seen up there in one go! it was blowing about a 15-20mph wind, pretty constant though so it wasnt too bad to fly with. Got a few shots of Stefan (Wang_UK) with his Knight 3D, and he got a few of my T-Rex 600E. Seeing how Stef's Knight 3D flys makes me want to get my Knight 3D up in the air NOW! Still waiting on a few parts though, should be flying it in a few weekends time. Anyway, heres the pics.

Seconds after that last shot of my low inverted hover i got it about half as close to the deck again, maybe half an inch from the brown stuff, but Stef just wasnt quick enough on the camera!

I like to hover low inveted too, but so far only comfortable nose in (same with you?).
Did you notice the governor shutting offthe throttle due to the ground effect?
Going lower and lower will have one end...

I went lower and lower and faster and faster on my hang glider and now I'm 1/2" shorter than I was.
Less of an issue with models!

its electric with no governor so no ive only decked this one once which was when the tail let go, never through me dumb-thumbing (touches wood!)

Nice flying and photos , but id be more worried about the other brown stuff if that was me on the tranny . No where near that confident yet but maybe one day

The only ground effect I got is when the tip of the disk was touching the grass, it is follow quickly by revs dropping quickley.............when this happens you got to punch it out or it is game over.

Moyesboy I can see 2 probs in that video, the grass was too short to be trying to touch at the angle he was at (he may of got away with it on har tarmac/concrete) & he was not steady enough on the collective. Like I said as soon as the blades start cutting they also start slowing and more pitch is needed to compensate or it will fall and crash.

im flying my 600 in those pics, stefs flying his Knight. My knight is built, just waiting for engine and 9254 from phil henderson, and then just got to get my exhaust canopy and fuel from steve. Will probably be weekend after next before i get it in the sky, but cant wait Next time i take the camera up the field ill try and cut some of the longer grass around the patch

Sorry, I think I am going blind, I thought the last 2 pics were still of the Knight but after re-looking I can see it is your Rex. I hear Raptormadsteve was doing so excellent deals at the show. You will enjoy the Knight.

i have been getting Metronome's pritty tidy and slowely getting lower. about 15-20 ft at the moment. Even did a little backwards flying
