hi everyone! how would the jr xp642 be for for a entry level heli radio?would it be enough for my nephew to learn with?

pretty sure the 642 only has 3 point throttle curve. sure it will get you hovering but you really need either a governor or a tx with 5 point throttle curves.

3 point throttle curve lets you adjust the amount of throttle you have at low middle and high stick. the idea is that you can get the headspeed to be consistent through the entire pitch range.
trouble is that 3 points doesnt give you enough control of the throttle so at 1/4 or 3/4 you will either have too much or not enough throttle making the headspeed change.
this is where 5 or more points come in handy.
a governor is a device that measures the engine speed then controls the throttle to maintain a set speed which you preset on the governor. if you have a 7th channel spare on the tx you can change the speed in flight.
