  • 700 Vague Control

Flew my 700 for the first time in a couple of months today with a fully charged pack and only managed half a tank before I had to land and call it quits.

I don't do much backwards flying but do sometimes like to climb out from the hover and into the circuit backwards before turning around, and today I did this, and went tail upwards like a kind of backwards stall turn without the turn if you know what I mean.

The tail let go as I went backwards vertical. It's never done this before. Only thing I've changed since the last time I flew it is the main blades which were fresh on today.

The cyclic also seemed very vague, noticeably so, so I gave up on the flight and landed.

Now my first thoughts are flat battery, but that is harking back to the old days of NiCds where everything sort of goes soggy before it gives up completely. But this is a regulated LiPo setup.

Gyro is a Spartan DS760. Tail servo is a Futaba 9256. Battery is a Outrage 2500 mAh LiPo. Duralite 5.1V regulator. Cyclics are Futaba 9255s. Everything has worked faultlessly since I first built the model 4 years or so ago.

    Any ideas?

    try another lipo
i've had a couple of the outrage lipo's fail
they balance charge ok but when you try to use them they don't give anything out or very little
the first one was on my turbulence, its a good job i've still got the nicad checker still plugged into the rx as it showed red
and i checked the lipo with a meter and it was very low

please don't try flying for a while as you've drunk santa's red wine
