    Opps...wrong runway!

    While I was leaving after breakfast at Cardiff airport this morning something buzzed the tower. Not something that usually happens at a commercial airport and Cardiff is far from being busy atm. Looked up and there in the sky above me was this black Hawker Hunter (G-PRII / "XG194" Hunter PR.11 Call Sign "Viper") no more than about hundred feet and banking away from the tower. Came round and landed on the runway...opps wrong runway! Should have landed at nearby St Athan RAF base. Tower was not impressed and neither was the air lingus flight that was about to take off.

    I know this isn't heli realted but way cool!

      We all make mistakes now and then. Ho hum. Ace pic though.
      Trex 450 SEV2.
      Trex 450 SEV2, hack, freeby, but getting expensive. Binned the bu**er !
      Trex 550 V2. Adrenalin ( brown kind )
      mCPX, better than a Phoenix anyday.
      Several planks, gathering dust.

      Brains and thumbs work okay, but not at the same time.

        he did two full turns right in the middle of runway 30. From what i've been told tower spent all day telling all the hunters that there was two airports and which one they should he heading for. Very impressive to here it throttling up right next to me, just wish I had a camera!

        Forgot to mention just prior to that "Police 32" flew throught the airport on route back to base.

          Many years ago a foreign aerobatics display team taking part in Woodford Air Show closed down Manchester International for a while by doing their display there by mistake!
