  • 550e v2 servo suggestions?

Hi everyone. Just wondering if anyone knows which servos will get the best out of the 550? Are the stock Align ones up to the job? Also.... anything to watch for in terms of quirks with this heli when building and setting up? Read of some tail wag issues.

    Thanks all

Get a set of Futaba BLS anything, they are all good.

You could go for a set of outrage HV servos or MKS HV or BLS servos. Again all good.

I use the standard align cyclic servos, but upgraded the tail servo to the 650. Great tail servo, very quick response.

I looked at the MKS... but it seemed like the power and speed was similar to the Align ones.

Align servos, I use 610's on cyclic are good, fast and strong. They've come in for a bit of criticism for centering but then I'm no F3C pilot. Oh, and they're cheap

The Align team pilots can win with the 610s so i am sure they are OK

If you tell these guys who are desperate to spend extra ££££ the truth they then won't dump their align servos in the used section cheap forus to buy!!

I had 600n with align 610s in, and one with BLS451 in. The 610s were faster (on 6v), running the 451s on 8v made them the same. There was no difference in accuracy.
I kept the 451s only becuase they used less current and the rx battery lasted longer.

Im just chasing the best performance really. I would rather not spend the money if i don't have to of course. But i don't mind paying to make the heli as good as it can be.

It was money well spent on my 500 going MKS, so just assumed there may be more to squeeze out of the 550. But looking at the specs and considering the useful comments i may just stick with the Align ones for now

Thanks all for the useful input

While I actually do like align servos, and have never had a problem with one, it's worth noting that the aligns do develop excessive play in double quick time compared to Futaba's which in my experience with various sets have never developed any noticeable play or dead band.

Chris, what we don't know is how often they are given a new set
