  • Which Servo's

    I (hopefully) will soon be buying a Raptor 50 and as such am thinking ahead about servo requirements. I generally use Futaba but currently run a Hitec digital 5925 for rudder.
    I guess a standard 148 or 3001 would be ok on throttle, linked through the TJ Pro
    What about pitch, elevator and aileron (or whatever the heli terms are).

    I may go Hitec throughout this time (partly to save cash) as the 5925 seems very good for what it cost.

    Eventually plan to upgrade to a 401 with 9254 but obviously would prefer to keep the outlay in check

    any comments ?

    Rob get yourself some JR591's, same performance of the Futaba S9206 but about 15.00.

    My Raptor 30 & 50 ran with them, great servo's for
    Cheers

      Cheers Stuart, will bear that in mind... still trying to decide whether to go all digital (bar the throttle) or not. Guess the current drain would be higher but then battery technology is also much better these days.
      Have thought about 9252's for the head...

        Hi Rob,

        I am currently trying out the new futaba S3050 digital servos in both my 50's. I have flown them a few times now with these new servos, so far they feel very good, quick enough for some reasonably energetic 3d and being digital have the holding power and accuracy making them a very good all round choice.

        The stats at 4.8v for this servo are as follows;

        Torque 5.2kg
        Speed 0.20sec

        The best bit is they retail for 39.99

        You could get away with these on both the cyclics and on the pitch, although on mine I have these on the cyclics and the more powerful S9350's on the pitch.

        If you were to ask me what the ideal setup would be for a raptor 50, I think I would say 9350 on the pitch, 3050's on the cyclics, the new 3151 on the throttle and a 9254 on the tail.

        The 3151 by the way is again a digital servo with the following stats again at 4.8v;

        Torque 3.1kg
        Speed 0.21sec

        Considering the maximum operating speed of the GV1 governor in terms of servo speed is 0.20sec the 3151 is a pretty good match, also having the benefit of being digital means it has the accuracy and holding power, not that holding power is going to make much difference on the throttle, but the accuracy certainly will.

        The 3151's retail at 21.99

        Cheers,

        Pete.

          Looks like an interesting selection, I will look up the full specs shortly as it will be cheaper than the 9252's I am running a TJ Pro so have super servo support on the throttle should it ever be necessary (I doubt it with my flying skills!) but the accuracy of a digital servo should prove useful I would think.
