    Pb charging with Mercury EX

    Can anyone tell me what settings I should use to charge my 12v field lead acid battery ? It is 12v 12Ah and I currently have to stick on trickly charge for ages to charge it up. I know that the EX will charge it as there is a Pb option but I am not sure what other settings should be.

      I just stick my 12v 24mah on the trickle charger, I'll do some digging around on it though, batteries are so temp.

      I know that my supa nova will charge pB, but I need a power converter to use it from the mains.

        I have a 10A PSU that I use, saves flattening my field batteries Pb charging is a bit of a mystery to me to be honest...

          What's the Make, I assuming here its a YUASA 12v 7amp

            Its actually a Kobe but similar to the Yuasa (I have 4 boxes of these at work just using old ones for the time being). It is 12v 12Ah (a little heavier in the ruck sack ). It says initial current 3.6A which I guess is initial charging current but I am not 100%.
            These came from the UPS's in my comms room at work (1 of the by products of servicing)

              Have you a product no...I found the company website, I have data details for charging Yuasu Batteries, but I wouldn't want to just assume that would charge at the same rates.

                Ok Stuart, it is a Kobe hv12-12, I cant find any sealed lead acid cells on the web site...

                  I thought I would bite the bullet and base my charging on the max initial current that is stated on the cell. Max - 3.6 I started at 3A. Managed to get just short of 6Ah into it this evening so guess it was about 1/2 charge at the start. Will test it tomorrow when I take the heli out to stretch its legs.

                    Its looks to me that maybe they don't produce those batteries in major no's any longer the only ones I can find are on German sites, but with no real technical info.

                      Looking at the 1st link there is some interesting specs for charging so I think I am well within tollerance when charging at an initial current of 3A.
