Had a boom strike today from a crap auto, on thing damaged is a dent in the boom. Do you guys normally swap these out? It still flies ok but not e if it has compromised the strength?
I have a similar one but across the boom of my 550E FBL from the very first attempt (maiden) at take off. Flown at least 20 flights since with no problem. I HAVE been pushing my learner envelope a little with it too.
Been there and done that, but never stop learning. Now too many Helis to mention?
Wouldn't a damaged boom like that compromise the tail rotor running gears' alignment, belt or torgue rod type ? Surprised you asked the question, but then I've used a bent one for quite a few flights before shifting me arse into gear and getting a new one on. I'll bet you've changed it by now ready for tomorrows bash.
