  • Best way to mount... a keychain camera

Just a quick one now my HD keychain camera has arrived from China. What's the best way to mount it on a Trex 450 or 500 to minimise vibration? I assume making some sort of foam housing is wise although the thing's so light I'm not sure if it will dampen out any of the potential vibrations. Maybe a semi suspended option with rubber bands is better, or perhaps the HD ones aren't so susceptible to the vibes and I really don't have to worry to much?

Any helpful hints, or even pics would be appreciated.

Hi Baron, thanks for the pics. Looks like you put a bit more thought into it than some and produced a nice solution.

myself I found the easiest way was two get two pieces of velcro and stick it on top the canopy, It was not to bad there, so piece of velcro on camera piece on front of canopy towards the top and just press them together, I have stuck my key chain camera on the boom and slung it under heli, boom is a no no though lots of interference but nice camera view

A few of strips of gyro tape mounted in a similar manner to Baron has done above might work well. I suspect the damping properties of gyro tape may be better than normal foam. Although best way to tell is to just try both options. I think it would also be beneficial to add a bit more mass to the camera - basically will do the same job as using a metal plate on a gyro.

mines just fixed on with 2 pieces of sticky pad back to back, you can just see it on top of the canopy.
Easy to download vids off just the canopy then and not having to carry the whole heli indoors.
