          like this
I bought a TNF Apex Bionic jacket a while back to go flying in. They're not bad, (I now use it for other things), but I found it wasn't particularly warm in cold weather (maybe not surprsing from a soft-shell), but it also was a bit bulky in warm weather.

I much prefer Men's Gradient Fleece - Rohan Outdoor Clothing . One way out it's warmer (than the Bionic), the other (revesed) it's cooler, and it stows more easilly. It also 'layers' better. *very* versatile.

IMO, you'll need multiple layers to stay warm, so you'll want garmets that work together.

Rohan seem to be very functional, but understated. Some other brands are a bit of a label.

The Rohan Outer Flame (already mentioned) is very interesting. The Rohan Nightfall (down) is great but expensive. I think there's a reason the Rohan down jackets can command those prices. I do like Rohan.

Bear in mind, that down has to be looked after. Washing it may be a problem, as can be getting it wet.

My boots have arrived, oh lovely jubbly

            IMG00803-20111026-1015.jpg

Really nice. Already got some nice gloves from last year - these fishing ones (thin neoprene, with good grip)

Just waiting for this to arrive and I'm set

I'm gonna look stupid, but I'll be warm as toast

            Cheers,

Blessed at our club. We have a large static caravan with heating and cooker.
Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits always there.
Take it in turns to bring the grub, bacon, sausages, black pudding, whatever, and have a good fry up.
Still need the winter clothes for the odd occasion we pop out and have a fly.
