  • MOAS Magnet or Header Tank?

OK so I've currently got a header tank. I bought a MOAS fuel magnet a while back to try. Can I ditch the header tank and use the MOAS, or should I use them both together?

    Thanks
    Harry

MOAS are cack - too light to reliably move around the tank properly. OS bubbleless clunk is what you want. Heavy enough to move around properly and won't degrade over time. I used one without a header for 6 months and never had one engine cut

I have used a fuel magnet for approx 100 flights on my 700, never a flame out, nor has it disintegrated the foam. (I do leave the tank full of fuel)

Im running the omi fuel magnet in my 600 for the past 12 months and no issues or flame out i can 3d till the last drop all i have to do is fuel up after every flight so the fumes dont eat the sponge and keep it wet i persume the moas is more or less the same

Cool thanks all, I'll give it a go. I keep the tank full also even though I'm only using a regular clunk at present.

The OMI fuel magnet is great (and I've never had one disintegrate either), it's just the MOAS that's questionable.

I'm using a MOAS and not had any trouble with it so far. The main thing to watch with it is that you need a very flexible clunk line as it's very light, and if the clunk is too stiff then it will just sit in the middle of the tank.

Gone from header.. to Moas.. to OMI and back to header.. I just prefer the header!

Moas.. cant trust it in the main tank as its too light.. maybe in a header is fine
OMI.. just the worry of it disintergrating

It's fine in the main tank, you just need to use a very flexible clunk line which I didn't do the first time. Now I've changed it for more flexible clunk line then it sinks to the bottom, and I've had no issues with the header running dry since.

Shameless plug: I've got both a bubbless clunk and an OMI fuel magnet in the for sale section

I must say the problems I and all other people have is in Velo90.. between us we have tried every flexible clunk line and ive even added washers to the moas to make it work but it simply wont.. even magic thumbs Tareq cant get it to work.. maybe in another tank like an align will but it sure wont in a V90 We finally got it sorted with the OMI but ive already posted my reason for why ive switched back to a header.. just ask Raptorheli and his two melted engines when the omi failed
