  • Raptor 30 has heart transplant and plastic/ carbon surgery

Hi Guys Bought this old run down 30v1 rappy about 6 months ago and over that time i have probably spent enough to buy a new 90 rappy, but she has been given a new lease of life now also teaching me along the way. She is now a fully fledged v2 with a new os37 engine and zimmerman muffller which i'm still in the process of breakin in, quickuk fan and clutch, lightened clutchbell, steel swashplate, alloy head and grips, gy611 gyro, htr carbon gearbox and blades.
Still got a few bits and bobs i need to fit when they arrive, but for now here are a few piccies.

Wow, that looks really good! I like that lavender boom and the general colour scheme overal.

I have an HTR rotorhead and tail unit but the tail grips on mine are different.

She will be out for a flight tomorrow, well hovering around as i have still to break in the engine (weather permitting) and i have still to sort out the leaking muffler/ engine joint. I have tried epoxy and failed so i might just try a gasket even though alot of peeps say dont use one.
She had a quickuk tail so i'm going to compare it against the HTR even though she now has an extra 1cm longer and 3mm wider tail blades so it's bound to be more stable! well i'm hoping so anyway.

Thanks mate, to say she is 10yr old, well not quite as most bits are newish. The 611 has so much to offer and to be honest it is overkill on this type of heli. The biggy is pulse rates when choosing a servo (narrow and wide). If you set the pulse rate to the wrong one you'll fry your nice new servo. I'm using an align gs620 but will be changing to a jr 8900g servo when the engine is broken fully, both of these servos require you to go into the secret menu and change the pulse rates. This gyro was meant to be used with futaba s9256 but i suppost they realised that not everyone wanted this servo so they created a secret menu for alternative servos.

Secret menu - With power off, hold down the left + and - buttons together, then power up...the screen will display "bad op"...now push the right pair of buttons together and you'll be able to begin scrolling through the secret menu. (i used cocktail sticks for this.

            gy611 basic setup - http://www.helifreak.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=21481&d=1181427573

            Manual in steves link above.

            Hope that helps mate

I really like the 601 and 611, they have a really nice feel IMHO and hold really well. The thing that
I didn't realise at first is that the display will show a gain value and that might be different from what
the TX shows but if you go by the gain on the display that's what matters. I think mine run at
32 and that seems to be the sweet spot.
