450 Heli for less than £100

Sounds to good to be true, but it can be done!
A couple of the blokes at our club are flying 450 Helis costing about £80, okay they aint anything special but work ok and are dirt cheap to repair; I've had a go with one and thought it was very good for what it cost - also it is an ideal beginners machine IF CORRECTLY SET UP.
List of parts:
HK 450 metal kit £29
3x HXT 900 cyclic servos about £1.80 each
1x HK 922MG tail servo £7
40A esc sbec (5A) £15
Ga-250 mems gyro £6.50
3500kv brushless motor £8
Orange rx or FRsky rx approx £8
It's not as good as the more expensive stuff, but is top value for money - I know there will be people who disagree with this but I'm speaking from what I've seen at our club.

thats really cheap, i know that one of the guys in our club did the same and to be honest it's the same as the 450 pro probably not quite the same quality but not bad. he did it for just under £100.00 but he did put align blades on it.

+1 for not believing it. Im sure it flys..... but i guess it depends on what your definition of "flying" actually is. You get what you pay for in this hobby..... and life in general

Im sure its a great and cheap way to learn........ Im not a fan of clones though... just my opinion

OK as I said there are going to be some that aint gonna like it, but someone out there who wants something cheap to learn with and not cost much to repair?????

Looks like its good to learn on defo. Are the sloppy flips and rolls the pilot i wonder?!?! I assume they are. Would be interested to see what a more experienced pilot could do with it for sure

i have a copterx 450 pro that i built cheap at christmas, thinking as long as i get a couple months from it i would be happy, its still flying good now, 1 of the guys at the club flew some 3D with it the other day too
all ive had to do is replace the swash due to a worn bearing so far, not had any crashes either

I'd like a mems gyro for under £10. Find that hard to believe. The Blade 450 one is ok though at under £40. I have found 450 motors from GiantCod at under £10 quite good.

As in the OP, hovering, lazy 8's etc. 3Djim used all HK servo's motor esc etc in his HK heli & it flew well with loops, 4 point hesitation rolls & other basic aerobatics. IMO it's brilliant that these budget alternatives are avaliable as it makes the hobby more accesible for someone on a very low income & is a good way to get someone started without being put off by costs.
