It's not difficult. It comes down to energy. if you want to stop something you need to make it do some work in the physics sense. If it's a F1 car going into a barrier you have tyres and gravel tracks that slow the car down. It's the same with an inductor or ferrite. It's made of lots of little magnets all poiting randomly. When you pass a current through a coil you concentrate the magnetic field around the ferrite and make the little magnets or domains all point the same way. That's just the same as magnetizing an allen key by stroking it in the same direction with a magnet to sop it dropping screws. When the domains all line up the forces from all the little domains all add up and give a good magnet.

With the way the esc people wind the servo wire around the ferrite the magnetic effect on the ferrite will work one way for the red lead and the opposite way for the white lead as the current is going to the servo in the red lead and from the servo in the white lead. So the magnetic effects add up to zero and the ferrite does b*gg*r all. No work on the ferrite no inductance no effect. Unless the delay between the pulse going to the servo and coming back is long enough to make a difference.

"So the magnetic effects add up to zero and the ferrite does bugger all " Great. So why fit the sods in the first place. My head hurts now !

I think it's called marketing. I wouldn't take it out though unless you can make some measurements of the noise coming from the BEC before and after. Funny stuff interference, it might be the right way to do it. Single ferrite beads on each power lead would make more sense to me, but perhaps that will saturate the core. As far as I can see we don't have a problem with 2.4GHz and brushless motors and SBECs.

They have these on laptops as well. If anyone has a dead lead they can take apart it would be interesting to see what they do. The capacitors should really be close to the inductors to work properly.

Well buggerit, I've put it back on. Flew ( hovered and bounced all over the place with the gusty conditions at our field ) this afternoon and it's fine. No way of knowing if they are beneficial or not though is there. Ho Hum.

Well there is, but life is too short really. Too many things go wrong with helis to worry about the truth. If it doesn't crash its working.
