there is cheap and then there are economical to own machines

trex 700 owned for 6 months no crashes spares cost £350
turbulence owned for 2 1/2 years no crashes spares cost = £1.41 (1x roll pin from a pack of 5 from a freya/sceadu)
the pin was changes as a safety measure not because it had broken

the turbulence booms/flybars/spindles are not that costly
the hardened main shaft is on the costly side but the std sdx50 shaft will fit and work at a 1/3 of the price (balls out 3d you wouldn't want to use the sdx shaft in it)

i just think that 1300-1400+ pounds plus for a kit is very expensive considering the prices of say a velo, trex, rave etc ! and i think the frames are g10 aswell arent they?

Mine has only been crashed down to my error.

Hopefully, it will stay that way too.

I don't have a price just like before, but if I inform the wife I just spent ££££ on a heli she will go mad.

So if I say £500-£700 maybe this will help, and the wife will be happy if I buy her a new kitchen ha ha

main gears by the bucket full
bearings, every bearing in the heli was replaced (my 10 year old sceadu has never had a bearing changed)
clutches, both the clutch and the clutch bell, in the end i fitted the quick uk clutch
a main frame that cracked around the mainshaft mount
dampers (i kept spares in my flight box as they didn't last)
tail blade holders, it ended up with quick uk tail blade holders and hub
tail drive gears that wore away (not broken teeth), the gear mesh was ok
                    clutch stack mountings
it ended up with the after market metal clutch stack mounting
                    fuel tank as it split
control rod ends, this had the bendy links from new
a set of quick uk ball and links cured it

but when it was flying it flew well apart from the phasing on the head was out
but it never came back from the flying field without needing to be repaired

the final straw was 3 main gears in 3 flights and i never got to use 1/2 tank of fuel in any of the flights (i ended up having spares in my flight box)
it got the engine ,servo's and gyro removed (which are in the turbulence) and sold on ebay

it was from the early batch kits
                    but once bitten twice shy

on the turbulence the engine rear crank bearing failed and i replace the tail pulley solid retaining pin for the freya spec roll pin as in the states some of the balls out 3d guys had the solid pin break

My 700 is I think 4 years old now - black head stylie.

It's never stripped a main gear, never lost a tail and never cracked a frame. It is however under repair at the moment after I think I lost a link on the head which lead to a catastrophic boom strike, but they were mostly the original links from when it was first built, and were due for changing anyway - more fool me for not doing it sooner. Just changed every link on the heli for new this evening as part of the rebuild, and I'm sticking with Align ones since the old ones lasted so well.

It's had a couple of sets of dampers and had the main shaft bearings changed once I think after a previous crash a while back.

I also bought a 2nd hand complete main shaft and head assembly for peanuts when the flybarless thing all started to kick off big time from someone who jumped in with the 3G unit, and that has sat patiently in my spares box until this week. Came in dead useful for the current rebuild, and probably saved the heli from being a right-off.

Probably the best value for money, or fun per pound heli that I've ever owned.

                      That's about it really.

                          some 700's work well
                          mine didn't
but they auto very, very well
and i had lots of practice with mine

before i bought the turbulence I was looking for a vibe 3d but nobody in the uk had one in stock
I did think about an avro but decided on the turbulence

The G4 is a very nice heli, very smooth and the low noise level it runs at I am very happy with, designed to take the bigger engines and motors that are available and coming out, its a very nice machine, loving mine..........
