  • how much have you paid to pimp your canopies?

just found out today that i'm on extended leave, unpaid too which is going to hurt if i don't find something soonish,
anyhow, just sprayed my canopy pearlescent orange, looks rather good too if a little basic, total cost was £43 inc the trex 500 canopy, with quite abit of paint to spare.
anyone want theirs done? pimp 003.jpg

I've just used Humbrol Flourescent Orange. £1.62.

    The Official Humbrol Website

The uneven brush strokes make it look artistic.

It does look good from a distance though. Tested it at 6.30 tonight. Should have an Led 12V light source in there for the coming darkness.

Could have had Buckers do you a full custom job for about £60

          who's buckers?
but then i would just have been buying someone else's work, i've been looking on heli freak at some of the work those guys are doing to theirs, truly outstanding, mine isn't going to be anywhere near as intricate or "arty" but it will look like a pro job when it's finished, i've still got the screen to do and possibly another colour here and there, maybe a candy red? what do you guys think?

Buckers does canopy painting for people (he is a member of the forum). His company is called cano-fx I think. He does some amazing work and can do personalised designs so that your canopy is unique

Here are a couple of canopies done by me and the second one (Rotorcraft RC ) was done by Phil (buckers).
The ones I have done which are mainly just a colour change took in the reagon of ten hours each and cost roughly £40 ish in materials including the 2 pack car laquer they are finished in.

The buckers one is just out of this World !!!!!! it blows my feeble efforts away .
I don't do canopies for anyone else as to be honest it's a labour of love and you just wouldn't be able to charge the time it takes.

If you enjoy painting go for it but to make real money for it I guess its like artwork,..... you need a reputation first.
Just so you know your efforts are fab and I am in no way po pooing your work just teling you how hard it really is.

                  good luck x Rachel

I use about 20 pence worth of Epoxy and 5 pence worth of Bandage when I am repairing my Trex Canopies. It gives a nice crazed finish.
Been there and done that, but never stop learning.
Now too many Helis to mention?
