  • Best 450 size heli

Hi ime selling my trex 500 its not for me

and was wondering what you thought was the best 450 size heli if you were to buy one

  • #2
For all round appeal I would say trex 450 pro, yes the beam or the furion, Rave may be better quality but spares/support aint half as good., although I wouldn't sell a 500 to buy a 450 anyhow any reason why you selling the 500?

Mini Protos looks good, but I have no idea what the spares situation is like.
Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

        450 pro.

But why sell the 500? Great heli that can be flown in stronger wind.

Hi i dont like flying the 500 because of the high head speed its just too responsive 80% throttle just hovering
ive tryed to calm it down but all it does is wobble or nod

i want a calm small heli to fly in my garden and was looking at the trex 450 second hand

450 will have higher head speed and will be more responsive.
            Especially mini protos

Beam e4 is the best I've flown to date on a flyabr, flybarless I would go for a trex as it's cheaper

Mate, do you fly with anyone else who can set up a heli? My 500 was soooo much easier to fly than a 450! The 450's are light, flighty, and needs a high head speed.

Try going down 1-2 teeth on your pinion, and try your 500 then. Also, spin blades do a semi symmetrical blade profile that is better for sport flying/beginning.

As you have a 500, I would look first to getting that setup well, and keep trying with that.

i agree with all above i can fly my 500 nice and even started looping it but my 450 is non stop on my repair desk, if i had to pick it be my 500 everytime much more stable in flight the 450 can be rather a handfull due to weight etc. i would agree with getting the 500 double checked either by shop or other flyers for setup. i would say getting a 450 imo is a step backwards

And another here agreeing on the 500.
Generally, the bigger and heavier the heli the more stable it will fly, if set up right.
As a matter of interest, what throttle curve and pitch curve do you have on the 500? Also, what's your pitch range and do you have any expo dialled in?

As said 500 is a good machine and a 450 is way more twitchy (i have owned both) 500 is alot more stable sounds like ures is not setup righr mine is almost hands off in a hover

I also agree that a 500 should be easier to fly but if the OP is flying in his back garden then a 500 is probably a bit over the top. I wouldn't fly a 450 in my back garden for that matter.

Agree with above. After flying the 450, the 500 almost feels easy

Have to agree, you're going the wrong way on the scale if you want a more stable and calm heli.... The 500 should be fairly stable and I'd have to question your setup if you say its all over the place.

That said, i have no idea what size your garden is but a 500 would need a big one to be any fun for the average chap like me!

You could try a 450 and go FBL... It gives you the smaller size but Lots of potential stability.
