  • ugh clubs...

i have been spending a lot of time in andover recently as my girlfriend lives there.

so i have been investigating the local clubs. it ranges from less than perfect sites to old gimmers that wont even entertain the thought of helis in their club. when challenged they say its due to noise... even though we adhere to the same 82db everybody else does!

if its not that, then access is difficult and flying time restricted due to events on the same site or its military land.

oh how we are spoilt at DMHC :-(

          Ade,

Marlborough MFC do/did allow helis although I think there are only two or so blokes with em and most can just about hover so Ade would scare the lot of em witless and that's before he actually flew (Ade, I take it that you still wear the contents of a decent ironmongers? ) The golfers would probably complain about something but they always did. Also there was a heli "club"/group of lads who flew on Hungerford Common which ain't too far away from Andover.
If you PM me I could put you in touch with a Burbage local who may be able to help.

          Cheers,
          Simon

Just backs up the well received theory that MOST clubs are full of complete tossers/wasters/dickheads/gimmers etc. etc. etc. at commitee level. Only need to look at the dickhead that runs the local club near me to prove that theory. It's my club and I can do what the f*** I like and if you p*** me off you are out

Blimey......Got two clubs that I am a member of and can't fault either one!!!!!

Fixed wing and choppers both get along, saying that the last club was completely full of idiots that hadn't a clue and thought I best leave before I sparked an oap out ....Yes it was that bad and I am a laid back person so hmmm what more can I say?????

Yea so many Clubs shun Helicopter flyers its unreal.

Its the old boys that get me they seem to run most of the Clubs or think they do and can take instant dis-like to anything they do not understand or cannot fly.

noise levels Ade ask them to get a noise meter out and prove it
7 meters from 3 sides for the helicopter.

Flying times can be an issue for so many Clubs as were close to village's and theres bound to be one grump git who will complain!

were not to bad here we got 10am - 7pm weekends bank holidays and
10am - 9pm weekdays. Most Clubs around us are 9am - 4pm weekends bank holidays and 8pm in the week. Some Clubs can only fly for 3 days out of 7!

Were split from another club due to there stupidity no planning permsion and noise issues we said lets find anew site they hit the roof so we did and now are the best Club in the area

DMHC is an excellent club, great site and a good crowd but I was amazed to hear that the plankers at the club have demanded equal rights to fly as the helis, I can just picture the scene in a year or so - a load of old gits sitting in their deck chairs with a thermos and a .40 high wing peice of crap at their feet and making damn sure there are no helis in sight.

Jim, not packed it in you dopey git, still flying just trying to avoid spending time in front of PC.

and the club I just left have had their flying times restricted even more, so looks like they will be trying to join somewhere else . Must have a chat with the committee so if we get any of the awkward ones then they can be told to go away......politely of course!!! LOL

Heli flyers moan about clubs that do not let them fly
These clubs are normally older clubs and older flyers who do not wish to fly heli's or cannot fly heli's

Recently some newer members of a mainly heli club have been moaning about plankers flying there
Sorry to say this but some heli flyers just think they have the right to fly any where and any time

When I go flying, it's an all day out, I fly no more than 4 or 5 times (Planes and heli)
Some heli only flyers come for less than 2 hours and virtually demand to fly non stop and take over my frequency (I still use 35Mhz sometimes for planes)

I've heard rumours about where I fly is going to ban planks!!!

That's coz we do!!!!!!!!! Coz we're far superior than these lesser mortals (plane fliers).....We heli fliers are gods, so yes we do fly when, where, and at what time we please.

Do you not know this?????? Thought it was common knowledge!!! LMAO
