  • How do you...

    ...measure cyclic pitch?

I have a pitch gauge but I have only used it for collective. Any ideas?

Stretch blades along length of heli, put on pitch guage, get friend to give full left/right cyclic and measure. For forward and back cyclic do the same with blades streched across heli. A shade over 6 degrees is considered normal but 3D heads use more

Whack it on the main blade mate & hold it straight & level whilst inputting Aileron/elevator. Or if you have someone to hold the stick for you....
Bit tricky at first but it's straightforward enough

Obviously the blade has to be aligned 'In line with' or across the centreline of the heli depending on which axis is being measured.

One tip, if you get more cyclic pitch one way than the other then you don't have zero pitch - I know of one member beyond the M11 who spent hours setting his up with endpoints as his pitch was not zero.
