  • Reflex XTR sim problems

    Hi everyone,

Been struggling for ages to get the new XTR sim and it finally arrived this morning.
I've loaded it on my PC, connected the lead to my JR378 radio, and the troubles began.
It doesn't put a shortcut on my desktop, is that right? Anyway, after going thru the programs I found it and tried to set it up. Everything it asks me to do it won't respond, it keeps asking me to switch on my transmitter. It's plugged in correctly, as soon as I plug in the jack socket my radio beeps and the display comes on. Whether it's switched on or off it still asks me to switch on my transmitter!
I used to have an Aerofly sim and the connector supplied with it would work when it felt like it! When I phoned my heli shop ( Midland Helis) they said that it happens with some JR radios, just wiggle the socket about until it works! I was glad to sell that piece of crap, now I've got more problems with the XTR. Helllppp!!!

I believe some are finding that the cable connection is loose at either one or both ends. Some are opening up the casing and checking the wiring and re-soldering a broken joint.

If you get stuck post a pic of the wiring, I've built a few FMS cables in my time.

Also you can get diagrams of the pins setup here:-

      I had a the same problem when I change from a hitec 7 to a JR9.
The solution was to change the plug on the end of the cable.
It came supplied with a stereo plug and the JR needs a mono plug.

      Hope this helps,

      Rick

Sim's - more bother than they're worth - unless you like games.

              xtr

make sure your radio is in ppm mode and not pcm it will not respond at all in pcm, it gives you the info as if the radio is not connected.

Thanks for all your suggestions, Nigelrob guessed correctly. I tried it with my recent purchase a JR 9X and got the same problem. Then I noticed it was set to PCM. As soon as I changed it to PPM all was fine. My training with nose in hovering paid off as I had a scary moment with my Robinson R22. As it was flying away from me it turned 180 and it was only about 10ft up. I managed to level it and land nose in ! What a feeling of relief. Thankyou XTR. Keep burning the fuel guys.

I've seen the screen shots and a mate has a copy and raves about it. I am still using AFP and like the fact I can add additional models (lots of them!). I hope to have a try of XTR tonight at our monthly meeting Hope its not too good as I am trying to save for a Rappy 50.

I've got the XTR sorted now, thanks for all your suggestions guys.

I'm well impressed with it, it's gotta be the best on the market so far.

While the weather's been so crap recently, I've been flying indoors on my sim! I've managed to grasp nose in flying now and put it to the test with my Xcell 60 and didn't crash it. Even managed a nose in landing and up into a hover again. I was well chuffed!

Once again, thanks for your help. I'm glad I got it sorted.
