Okay, we've got 100, 240, 400, 450, 500, 550, 600,700 and some I've missed. My question is what do the numbers relate to. I doubt the manufacturers know and just said it's bigger than a 450 so we'll call it a 500 etc. The classification used to be electric motor size for the smaller stuff I believe, but 700 ? What ?

Yep, most manufacturers use some odd formats... 450 used to the motor size even though they use 325mm main blades. Then they get lost in there own game and can't bring out a model with a lower name or people will think that it's smaller...
As above from 550 up they use the correct (well rough) length in mm's of the main blades.
