At What Wind Speed>>>

I fly my 450 up to 15mph. I can make it do simple things at that speed. I agree with the in to wind comment. I'm trained to fly into wind but having a heli blowing towards you is not good. Downwind is much better. I'm surprized people can get much above 20 with a 450. Impressive stuff that.

People usually grossly exaggerate wind speed they fly at (this is often based on my experience with people grossly exaggerating wind speed they can surf/kite/sail)
30 mph is 7 Beaufort. That can easily knock you off your feet if you are not careful, because if you don't live at open sea, there always will be some gusts. Flying rc helicopter in 7 Beaufort conditions... hmm

15 mph is about where the fun ends and annoyance begins. To be honest I slowly start to accept the fact that flying season in this country starts in mid May and ends in September, unless you are a masochist

I think you may be a bit pessimistic there, at least with helis and back gardens. The wind often drops just before it gets dark and you can get out for a few flights in the garden before getting too cold. The real flyers are the slopers who go to the tops of hills in the Winter when its windy and stand there for hours at a time. I know some of these people, they appear normal, but I'm not sure.

There's no way i'd fly in 30mph constant wind just gusts of upto 30mph which is according to the Met Office for southampton. I may have to get a cheap windometer or whatever they are to measure the speed i can officially fly in & see if the Met is alwaysd near correct..
