  • At What Wind Speed>>>

Hoping to finish work early this afternoon but keeping an eye on the weather noticing the wind getting up" which always does when I want to go flying! but not too bothered as I've got used to it, so what my question is", at what speed are you comfortable with! last Sunday was 13mph & after couple flights got used to it then Tuesday was high winds but managed few good flights with 450 & started to really enjoy it' more so as I managed to control her through the blustery bits.
Here's your chance the weekend forecast is windy if you've not already challenged it!!!

Wind sucks. I don't find it challenging at all, it's just annoyance. I don't fly when it's gusting more than 20 mph and I doubt it's going to change even if I get bigger helicopter.

Well since going to BeastX wind does not bother me one bit, I flew in the wind at the weekend just gone when it was blowing a Gale, and the 500 on the Beast was rock solid, i certainly have noticed that Flybarless handles the wind alot better, but i agree i did not find it a challenge just took the fun out of it. 15-20mph it starts to loose appeal for me and i wont bother under 10mph and i notice little difference unless its Calm then of course its silky Smooth. I only try new stuff when its under 5mph

If you can open the car doors without them actually blowing off, and also stand up, then its fine - even with a 450
It was lovely and calm at North Notts last weekend wasn't it!

It's okay for you accomplished stick bangers, but anything around the 10 mph speed takes us learners right out of our comfort zone. Well, for me anyway, I find fighting a gusty 10 mph blow can be stressful enough to take the fun out of it.

With the Logo 500 i'll fly in 30mph gusts. Trying to do backwards flight or an inverted pie dish in that wind is more than challenging for me (anyone lol) in them conditions. I once flew my 450 in 45-50mph gusts & it took off & was balloning like mental & i tried landing imediatley & THAT was the hard bit trying not to slam it into the ground. I've also had my 450 blown down the field in wind that the 401 couldn't compete with. On another note i find i'm comfortable with all wind directions apart from flying into the wind. To me flying facing the wind is dangerous & i don't like it having the heli blown towards me. Oh & i fly flybar so i get no help.

                        True! I stand corrected
I don't mind constant wind, but it never happens. Always gusts.

Agree with Mike.. up north there is no choice but to fly. Just make sure the pitch curve has a little more negative in it so you can get it back on the ground

Went flying this afternoon with both 450's by time I got to the field it started getting gusty & much to my surprise my FB Mini-T handle it better than my FBL pro, both where good fun especially trying to hold a nose-in hover found it a good way to challenge yourself.

I fly my 450 up to 15mph. I can make it do simple things at that speed. I agree with the in to wind comment. I'm trained to fly into wind but having a heli blowing towards you is not good. Downwind is much better. I'm surprized people can get much above 20 with a 450. Impressive stuff that.
