  • Setup advice needed on beast 500

    Hi all
Well im starting to get really brave with my 500 and was throwing it about tonight quite a bit however i have a problem. When i go full pos to full neg i get a sort of delayed wobble inbetween its like its reponding a bit slow and kinda feels a bit unstable when it happens, i might try film it but it feels like there is a dead spot in the middle that the heli gets caught in on the collective noticed it loads when attemptin a tick tock sort of got stuck at the ends and a bit wobbly, i really think im at the stage i need some one to look over my setup and tune it, any advice would really be welcome and or any one that is willing to take a look im willing to drive to there site or club, maybe its somthing simple i dont know :s am i making sense ?

Sounds like the cyclic gain is a little high, where is pot 1?

I had a collective wierdness on my 500 before going beastX which sounds a bit like your problem - I found it was the swash sticking and not sliding up and down the main shaft smoothly. Cured completely by some silicone spray lube. I never had that on my 450...and of course my nitros are covered in lubricant. Been fine ever since.

How is the Beast mounted. If it's on the supplied mount try something a little harder, maplin double sided tape 2 or 3 layers thick seems to work well.

Try turning pot 1 down slightly, is it V3

I polish the shafts just to make sure of smooth travel, make sure no bineding occurs at top n bottom collective thats with full cyclic p/s,u/d. try + to 1 oclock ish on pots 1,2,3
            .

we have 3 trex 500 on v3 at our club, thay were on v2 we found on v2 it worked best with beast set to tx(blue in pm) and use the rates in tx for aile and ele 110 all round works like rate for rudder speed (rate), 115 sould be about 52% gain on v2 same on v3 we have found pots 1,2,and 3. seem to like 1 oclock ish + . with h/s 13t pinion idle 1 85% 2@95%. put my beasty v3 500 up today, just seemed to shrug off the howling wind, joy one of our more nevous pilots put his newly upgraded beast X v3 up today landed with a big grin! all our 500 on v3 are set up more or less the same, i know cuz i do them for the guys we and i am sure i can speak for the other chaps. we love them even more than v2 the thing makes it perfom so dam well! deep joy! if your piru rate l/r is wonk check you have (N) pirouett optimisation dir in corectly and no pre set pitch on tail rotor 0 degrees.
