Why can I not post in the wanted section! Grrr

Denying access to the for sale section makes sense... but the wanted section? I don't get it.

A lot of people wanting stuff will be new to the sport obviously!

Having criteria to stop people selling tat makes sense... but since the people doing the wanting are giving away the money... this whole process looks bizarre.

Not really, consider what happens if I pay you via PayPal and I cover the fees so it is a valid transaction for goods. You send me the item then I complain to PayPal that you just sent me an empty box and get a refund ...

This makes no sense... anyone can pm someone in the for sale section to buy an item so the risk of that is present anyway!

At any rate it only applies to paypal... and it is a trick that paypal are onto to some extent / they are happy to investigate charge back scams.

Simple solution is - if you dont trust the guy you are dealing with insist on bank transfer. There is no risk in selling something to someone doing this, but there is always a risk when buying something that it will be in less than perfect condition.

Well I have been told its only 9 days to go before i can use the wanted section, so i guess i'll have to wait until then to get hold of a second hand mcpx. Seems a shame you can't post there from day one, but i guess its forum rules.

You may not think so, but they are the rules and they seem to serve us pretty well. They make sure we get a chance to interact with someone over a period of time before they are allowed to post in the trading forums.

You make a good point though, perhaps we should block viewing rights as well ...

It's there to make sure we all get to know who were dealing with, that way there is less chance of getting ripped off, it works both ways and protects both sides.
Like Stuart said you don't have long, unless he lets you jump the gun.

Its not a rule that was invented simply by me it was voted for and we simply enforce the rule. Personally regardless if selling or wanting there both transactions and its this point that we are trying to give a small element of space for people to make themselves known within the forum first before getting involved in transactions. Its a forum first not a cash machine.

I think it's a good idea... It's not fool proof and obviously the risk of getting ripped off is there, but it makes it enough hassle for real scammers to just go elsewhere generally.

Won't take long before you're able to post there.
