I have 3 different brand of batteries(flight power 50c-100c 5200,voltz 45c-95 5100 and zippy flightmax 25c 5000) they all are 6s batteries, i have had the voltz batteries since jan and within like 2 mth they were puff all of them(5) and the performance had drop really bad, the zippy batteries(2) i had from about april and they have no sighs of puff and the performance is the exact same like from brand new and then there is the fligh power batteries(4) witch is only 2 mth old and they are really puff already and performance has drop. Now i know what ur going to asked!! yes i have break them in all of them the exact same 10 flights using about 40% of the battery and only charge at 2c at room temp, all the batteries were treated the same never over discharge and always about 30-40% left back in the battery after use. My flying style is not 3d so its not like the batteries has had a hard life or anything so i really dont know why they are puff and so soon when the cheaper brand(zippy) is still like new.I never keep them fully charge and they are always in the house at room tem. The voltz and the flight power batteries are really expensive and i could get 2 zippy batteries for the price of a voltz and flight power. I know the zippy battery is not as punchy as the others because if the c rating but like i said i dont fly 3d so i never notice any difference in any of the batteries, so i guess expensive is not always the best choice or maybe expensive batteries are not what they say they are.

There are lots of ways of damaging lipos. One way is to overdischarge and another is to keep them charged at high temperatures. Perhaps the higher performance batteries are more fussy about how they are treated. Some manufacturers offer guarantees now. It's still a mystery why some fail and some don't.Flasher 450 Sport. when batteries are not in use in store them in storage mode with the charger witch is about 50% never store them fully charge for more than a dayDo what u do best

Are you flying these as 12S pairs or 6S singles?
I have the new nano tech ones 50c-100c and i run them as 6c on my 550 and 12c on my 700e f3c but like i said i fly more smooth and sport no 3dDo what u do best

Have you ever logged the amps the 550 is pulling from the packs in flight?
Just curious really as there always seems to be a 6S heli involved when the better packs are showing problems.
yes sorry they are 5000 and am not sure what amps am pulling but i have run them on both heli 700e and 550 with the same type of flyingDo what u do best

i hear what ur saying but i run all 3 brands on both heli so y is it that its only the 2 expensive packs that are puff and the cheap zippy pack is still like new and the flight power packs are very newOriginally posted by Mark_T View PostThe 550 will be the one having the most impact on the packs, but without any logging it is going to be hard to say how much impact.Do what u do best

No idea beyond the obvious one that only the better packs are capable of giving the 550 everything it wants, the lack of punch you describe is the zippy battery just not giving it up as fast as you demand where the Voltz and FP are able to give you all you ask for and hence feel more punchy so they are being stressed more than the zippy.
Without knowing what the 550 is actually drawing it is not easy to comment further.
Are the packs on the 550 coming down noticeably warm or hot?

fear enough but i dont fly 3d and my flying style is calm on all the batteries so its not like am doing anything hard on them the voltz and the fp comes down very warm when the zippy comes down i can say sometimes cold or bearly warmOriginally posted by Mark_T View PostNo idea beyond the obvious one that only the better packs are capable of giving the 550 everything it wants, the lack of punch you describe is the zippy battery just not giving it up as fast as you demand where the Voltz and FP are able to give you all you ask for and hence feel more punchy so they are being stressed more than the zippy.
