  • Flymentor 3D won't initialise

I am trying to set up Flymentor on my Align Trex450Sport, but can't get the system to initialise.

The heli is stock: Align RCE-BL35X. AR611e receiver.DS410 cyclic servos nad DS420 rudder servo. TX is DX61.

The bird is hovering well under normal set-up, swash is level, blades tracked, blade pitch correct at mid upper and lower stick. I have created a new model on my TX and set according to Ivor's set up.

The RX is configured as follows: BEC - Thro. FM (black white red cable) - AIL. Yellow - Elev. Grey - Rudd. Gear - blank .Orange - Aux1

The FM controller is configured as follows:
    Pitch - port 1.Aile - port 2.Elev - port 3.Rudd - port 5.port 4 - empty.

I am reasonably sure all polarities are correct.

The TX has been rebound to these settings. All I can achieve on powering up is a red light on the FM controller flashing regularly at approximately 1 second intervals, the orange light is on the RX. All sticks are dead and there is no indication of the servos initialising as per normal start up.

I am using the hand held controller which connects to Flymentor no problem. Can't get it to connect to my PC running Win7.

However I think it may still be something that stupidly I am missing.
I really am stuck and have tried various suggestions from the forum, all to no avail.
Beginning to think it may be a faulty unit, purchased at Fast Lad couple of weeks ago.
Still hoping it may be something I have missed.

    Any help would be appreciated.

you wont get it to work on win 7. I have to use a laptop with xp. Works under Vista but the software changed settings every loadup and did random things. flashing red meens off.

Green meens working and you need to make sure gyro setting is over 70% have you got the green or the blue wire attached to your rx?

          Hi R1stu

I realised that Helibal wouldn't work with my PC (Win7) , so I purchased the Hand Held Programmer.

The programmer successfully talks to the FM Control Unit but does not alter anything.

I don't have the green or blue wires connected and have my gyro setting at 70%.

          Regards Norman

You need to have at least one really for it to work. I have tail gyro setup on tx and blue setup in the software. Not used the hh programmer so not too sure how it works.

look here! Fixed all my FM problems.

Your wiring is not right....if you are using the FM gyro the GREEN lead should be connected

Read Ivor Hills set up on heli freak dot com..flight stabilization ..again.

you can always PM Ivor..he is very helpful, and will talk you thro it

I have the programmer..it works fine..but you must set FM up right

                It is all on there

                  Flymentor problem resolved

Hi guys, I am delighted to say that thanks to Jason at Fast Lad the issue with my Flymentor kit was diagnosed as a
                  Faulty controller, and efficiently resolved.

As expected from a company renowned for excellent customer service there was no issue in an exchange, with Jason taking a good deal of time out of his busy schedule to set up my heli.

I know I could have purchased Flymentor cheaper elsewhere, but the additional cost was worth the excellent support that I received today from Fast Lad.

Many larger companies in other spheres of activity could well do to study Fast Lad's approach to business and their customers.

Thanks Jason, good luck in your upcoming competitions.
