Beast x v3

I'm looking at converting my pro to flybarless. I know it's not really necessary on a small heli but want to for the fun of it. Going to give beastx a go as vbar is too expensive to go on a 450. Do I need to buy v2 and then upgrade or can I buy a v3 unit?Also I'm assuming I can use just use a spektrum satellite now?

depends on stock i guess, but i would imagine that places like Fast-Lad are stocking V3's there are mixed reviews on using Spekky sat's some people are saying one is not enough etc, personally i would just use a standard RX with it but thats your option some people fly fine on one sat.
If you buy a BeastX grab a cable at the same time as there will always be improvements coming out. i updated mine to V3 couple of nights ago but only got a quick hover in so hopefully tonight i will get a couple of flights in :-)

I bought my beastx from fastlads and an update lead, i dont think they are selling them on v3 but are selling them on v2 buy the usb lead and upgrade to v3 well worth it!
Im using a standard rx spektrum ar61100 neva had any problems!!

yupp, just bought myself a beastx from fastlad last week, and it came with the v2 manual, so i just update it to a v3 instead.cheers

Why not ask them to update the v2 to v3 in the shop using their lead. It seems the lead will only be used for updates, there arer no settings can be done with it on v3 (the ones it did on v2 are on the buttons and flashing lights in v3).

I had a 450pro with a BeastX that was brilliant.
I setup another and just couldn't get it right.
I replaced the BeastX with an Align 3G unit and it flies great now.
Nothing wrong with the Align 3G unit for basic sport flying or starting 3D flying and they are available cheap as chips at the moment.

Any good model shop will upgrade the BeastX v2 to v3 for you when you buy it.
Biggest problem is that the manuals are different.
The V3 manual is available on the internet but it's not easy to use computer while setting up BeastX and no good when you want to make adjustments at the field.
The manuals about 70 pages in colour so expensive to print out.
If you are going to get BeastX then I would wait until V3 with V3 manual are in stock.

I just put the manual on my iPhone in case I need to look anything up at the field (which is pretty rare). Problem solved.

Solved only if you have an iPhone or similar.

I just put the manual on my iPhone in case I need to look anything up at the field (which is pretty rare). Problem solved.

Expensive and a lot of paper even if printed in B&W.

I printed it 4 pages to a side (ahem, at work), but I think Acrobat would print it smaller, maybe 8 to a side? Could be handier for fitting in the field bag as well as cheaper.
