  • Heli can fly!

What a great two days. Nice weather and two big heli events.

Maidened the Protos. My logo is a little jealous of it and worries that I might neglect her, no worries, i whispered to her that the Protos was my experimenting machine.

I have also, for some time been a king of extreme tail in hovering. Struggling all summer to break from the hover to forward flight. Well today was the day this all changed!

My good mate Andy, who is more a plank flyer but is very addicted to everything RC, invited me to his school yard (caretaker). I decided I would take the little flown 450 plus both the Logo and Protos. For some reason and not really thinking about it that much began flying the 450 about, started by taking it right and then banking and flying right to left! Four packs through the 450 and then two on the Protos...what an evening!

Wife wasn't that happy when I got home late, but I didn't care!

Videos will follow when Andy uploades to youtube

I know what you mean. Having only recently progressed from tail in hover, the ability to fly the Heli across the sky is hugely satisfying...I guess once you realise that you can actually let these beasts fly rather than try to fly them - that makes it easier. Now take the heli up high flick the tail around 180 degrees, keep it there till you cr*p yourself and the flick it back...keep doing that an nose-in confidence will come.

Congrats nick, ace isn't it when you start flying around.

I only broke from tail in hovering at the rcha event a month ago,

I did 2 packs of 8s, then... did... a few flips and rolls with the 450...

Most of my success is down to about 5 packs on mcpx every night lol, after doing 2 packs of flips and rolls, I crashed my 450 inverted lol, got cocky and tried hovering lol, but I wasn't too bothered as I had achieved a fair bit lol

It's a great feeling when you hit these milestones, and that's what we all love about the hobby... the challenge!!!
