    QUK tail.

It's a known issue and upgrade but prob only affects a small % of Align flyers.

Don't take the chance and upgrade the 600 and 700 tails as a matter of course IMHO when you buy the kit!

I've done the third bearing mod on mine. High quality 12.9 M3 x 12mm button head socket bolt and a 10 x 3 x 4 (OD, ID, width). Seems to take all the side play out of the grip. A cheap way of doing the KDE upgrade, without having to buy the kit with the links which I didn't want.
      Cheers,

        Whats this Mod?

Is it just to fit another radial bearing in the tail grip??? and how do you fit it?

Just using the radial bearing and the button socket head screw (gives clearance to the tail blade). You need a thin washer between the outer thrust race and the radial bearing, then just refit the new bolt using the existing washer under the head.

A chap I fly with has been using the KDE upgrade from when he built his 700. He gives the tail some stick and it seems to be holding up well. He didn't fit the little KDE pitch links though as he couldn't get the tail to run smooth, so kept the original Align tail parts. Effectively the only part of the KDE upgrade he is using is the bolt and the extra radial bearings, but at 18 quid I couldn't justify it.

                function over form.

I couldnt give a rats ass how it looks, just give me a tail that isnt going to explode and give me a piroing death spiral that i didnt invoke!!!

I swear to god, the Align helis have given me nothing but grief with screw heads, tail failures, clutches, gears stripping...........

                    +1.. I have KDE's on my Aligns...

However this wont solve the issue Mike had.. which is the bushing that failed and he dont know what happened on the 700.

The Quk tail is good at first but still developes the same slop as a normal align tail... so imo.. get the KDE V2 and metal bearing holder/brass bush.

I did the same mod to my 700n and the replacement bolt snapped mid flight causing a minor crash (this was after a good number of flights with this setup). I'm a bit sceptical as to whether it makes the heli any more reliable.

Have to agree about the Quick Uk tail. When I first bought one it was far more slop free than the stock tail but within a month or two it was just the same as stock.
