  • Rusting bolts

Not sure if they all do this over time just from flying, but I've noticed quite a few bolt heads rusting on my Vision 50. Probably a stupid question, but should I replace them?

Na no need to replace they will be fine as its likely to only be surface rust. Its not uncommon to get rusting bolts (especially in our climate) as they are generally made from carbon steels

As long as there isn't rust on the threads, but I doubt that will happen because loctite prevents this along with there being no air .

With the oil nitro's spew out I'm surprised you're getting rust! Where do you store your helis?

Theyre in the garage but it's a semi converted room. The garage door is sealed shut and it's carpeted so it isn't that damp.

I'll just back the bolts out, clean them with nail polish remover and loctite them up again.

          Cheers!

Dont forget that your vision is a nitro.....and part of the product of combustion is nitric acid that will eat its way through any surface coating to allow oxidiiation of most materials... change um for stainless cant happen then

I wouldn't bother Harry, soak a bit oof rag or cotton wool in WD40 and wipe the surface of the bolt over. The rust will dissapear and won't come back.
