  • Just had enuff lately

I've been getting so fed up of it being weeks between getting to fly cos of working nights recently, weather and general life. I'm only at the hovering stage atm but it's been taking me at least a pack or two to get back to where I was before I last put it away but now I'm back on days I've been chucking the 450 in the car on the off chance I'd come across somewhere to get some stick time in.

Well today it paid off, I'm working in an empty house that just happens to have a grass tennis court behind it. RESULT !!!

Altho it was slightly breezy this morning I just had to put a pack thru her at T break, despite the very light rain. All went well with no moments as such. Couldn't wait til lunchtime.

Well, 1 ish came and the wind had picked up, bit blustery, but the rain clouds had gone so after a quick coffee I bit the bullet and off I went again. It wasn't easy but having had a flight in the am I was more confident in the wind, so tried a few lazy 8's. I wouldn't say they were perfect, far from it with the gusts blowing in and out but managed some fairly good impressions of the intended move, with a fair few rapid altitude changes thrown in for good measure.couple of semi puckers but again no moments.

By the time I'd finished for the day the wind had dropped a tad so used my last pack then came home, well happy.

I know it wasn't a great idea for a learner like me to try in the wind today but I've been soooo p'd off with lack of airtime I was going stir crazy.

Sorry to ramble but wanted to share today with someone as the although the Mrs listens she doesn't really take it in. No surprise there then.

Roll on tomorrow, all charged up and waiting for T break again.

    Well done you
we live in a windy wet country and no matter what the weather I fly in fact over the winter there was only one Sunday when I didn't make it.

I actually like flying in the wind I imagen it as waves and thats sort of what the gusts feel like to the heli.

Just keep at it because it's all about stick time.

good luck and keep us posted

Gotta fly in wind, otherwise you wont fly at all. I used to hate the wind when I was learning to hover, now I just see it as a challenge

        Couldn't agree more, Peter!

I used to practice with the 250 when it was windy and absolutely loved it. The challenging bit was to land the tiny thing, must tell!!
At the end, that did give me an ample lot of confidence. I had a lot of support from some good friends on here who kept encouraging me and that's played an important role along the road.

Keep at it mate, you'l get there! Atleast now you've got a reason to look forward to when goin to work

        All the best!

There's one lad in are club who will fly his 250 in force 8 winds as long as he is flying.
He will be out them showing the big boys what you can do with a 250 its great because it pushes
Me to try push myself it tends to make you abit quicker on the sticks.
See it as a challenge .

I always think a little wind, when your working helps you learn, on a still day the inputs are at a minimum, but you get a bit of a blustery day and your working those sticks constantly, helps cement it into the brain and get it more intuitive.
                    All the best

At this point, after about 130 flights since March, I don't think I know how to fly in no wind, I fly my 250 in 15 mph winds and it's doing all right

But, to be honest (sorry for being a killjoy), I don't see this as challenge (what's to prove?). Let's face it, weather is rubbish quite a lot of time and this is outdoor activity, it's much more enjoyable when weather is right. It's mostly my OCD what keeps me going .

Long story short, if you like flying, stick to it, weather or not..
