  • Few pics of my handy work :D

After taking delivery of some new parts for the 500 I decided to braid the wires like the rest!

Looks so much better than plain wires, and adds a nice bit of protection from frayed wires etc causing shorts!

All ready to put the new XT60s on!

I know it sounds bad, but I really can't be bothered going to all the effort of braiding the wires ( which if you saw my competition audio cars you'd never understand as everything was beautifully braided. ) as you can't see the wires when it's in the air.

All credit though, looks like you're doing a top job

        Same here.
Pretty, pretty yes, but a pain when you have to work on after the inevitable happens.
The heat shrink never holds the braiding and you end up with frayed ends everywhere.
        Also adds unnecessary weight.

Weight? what weight unless your gonna braid the wires to an mcpx it aint gonna make no difference, and if done correctly no frayed ends, it needs heating to fuse the braiding together before the heatshrink is added.

I like the look of a braided loom over tie-wrapped wires and as you say it does protect them from abrasion. I did my old Raptor and it looked fantastic and years later all the wiring was as new so it did its intended job. I never had an issue with fraying due to loose heat shrink, I used 12mm 3:1 shrink which closes around the wires nicely but allows the shrink to slip over plugs and sockets without issue. Not got around to doing 450 as I was too impatient to get it in the air

First rule with all flying model building.

              'Build in lightness'.

A gram here and a gram there soon adds up.

Once built a 15Kg Extra 300 that was 4.5Kg's lighter than my mates, flew on a smaller engine and with far better performance.

I never add anything not needed and take out, thin down, lighten wherever I can.
              You will see the difference.

I'll try and find it, but eBay loom tape 10mm. It's tape which is very thin, felt like on one side, sticky on the other.

I've never heard of this? Any pics of it on a Heli? How flexible is it once it's on the wire?
