  • Does it make any difference?????

Does it make any difference to the flying characteristics whether the flybar is above the main blades or below them??????

Bit of a random question i know but my King 3 that i use to try out new tricks (which went into the ground again tonight invert and yes pilot error ) has the flybar above the main blades, But i can get the main rotor hub from the Belt CPX which fits straight on using the same linkages in a different configuration but has the flybar below the main blades.

Yes it makes a difference - flybar on top just looks sooooo wrong.

Curtis went for over head style on the Rave ENV design because he believes it tracks better, but I'm not so convinced - sounds like a bit of sales talk to me.

Raptors have always traditionally had the flybar over the top, until the new ones like the X50 which has gone to the more traditional underneath stylie.

Most other helis have the flybar underneath.

    Queue the flybarless brigade........

Flybars Rule, above or below. Logo like theirs above as well but I think its better below - and its easier to cut the grass like that.

I would rather the flybar on my heli not be either above or below the blades, I would prefer the flybar to be on someone else's helicopter :-)

                Couple of thoughts

Above head the paddles are in "cleaner" air so better response
Higher CG (due to head height)

Below head paddles are in "dirty" air but you get a better geometry
Lower CG (due to head height)
