  • Going Electric

So with recent changes going on.. and just sick and tired of the oil crap on my machine after each flight and that the power of electric is just overwhelming not to mention vibrations and center of gravity etc, I decided that I'll be converting most of my fleet to electric.

Now, I'll need to do some research on what Motor and Speed controllers to go for.

    Any suggestions for 10 - 12s combinations

and I'll be honest.. the Align motor seems to pull quite well!

I cant really give much advise on the bigger stuff, but the Align 600mx motor in my 550 pulls very very well with the CC ICE 100 in gov mode. All the power I could ever want

Yeah, a few people have a 550e at the field with kit spec motor and ESC, and I'm quite surprised at the power it produces.

One thing iam glad of is my original choice for fbl controller and speed controller when i decided to go mostly electric, i decided to stick with the same for all my models which is kontronic and v bar, my thinking was buy once and buy correct.

Stay with IC Callum, the cleaning is just an opportunity to check over the model. I can't stand all that taking the canopy off to change batteries then hours of sitting near them whilst they charge.

ESC's are Kontronik, Scorpion and YGE.

Motors are Scorpion or Kontronik. The Aligns are good just like their heli's but Scorpions and Kontroniks are an upgrade. Scorpions in all of mine except 1 that has a Kontronik but I could not recommend them over Scorpions due to the cost.

Your budget will guide what you buy and unless you go Cremations with the ESC you wont go wrong

Just sold my last 700 today.

Going all electric now, Certainly heaps of power and going home oil free is a bonus.

Downside is getting setup for electric "ie" capable charger, Lipo's etc etc.

Plus side is exactly what you mentioned, zero vibrations and trouble free flying.

Cheers for the advice guy's. The Scorpion motors at this point on top of the list.. but will certainly need to do some research.
