CellPro 10s Smokeh!

Well.. Quite an odd one today,

Was charging my LiFE 4000Mah @ 5A on a 12v car battery.

Everything was running fine for a few mins. Until smokes starts billowing out the Cell Pro and that was that.. the Cell Pro was dead.


I got it from HeliGuy, Would it be better to ring FMA instead or HeliGuy for a warranty replacement?

Got it back in Feb.. Not opened it yet.. and won't due to warranty voids etc

Why not? Mike is the importer from what i heard, and he's helped out a friend sending spare parts at very good prices.

your contract in the UK is with the seller-not the importer/distributor.

also Mike no longer distributes cellpro-optifuel do.

if your stuck try Mike but your first port of call should always be with the shop.

Go to Heliguy first. They're a helpful bunch. They may just replace it...

This is not good advice, as stated above, Mike is no longer the distributor and I'm pretty sure the Heliguy units didn't come through him even when he was the distributor.

Go to the retailer first, Heliguy will sort this out one way or another.

iv had two faulty cellpro 10s

How did you get on with this issue and replacement?

After 2 months of light use my fan started to fail. I offered to fit a new fan if it meant a faster outcome but was prompted to send it back to heliguy so they could check for other damage. This sounded great until I was told all stock of replacements was depleted and they were waiting on new stock.

I didnt want a replacement just a new fan. Long story short it took 9 weeks to receive a 'new' unit that looked more used than the one id sent away.

I had to purchase an overlander pro so I could still use my packs and decided to sell the cellpro 10s but when i tested it something inside glowed red and blew. Back it went this month and im waiting to see what happens this time.

I asked to try a more expensive charger like the powerlab but they seem reluctant at heliguy for that to be an option even though my 'cheap' overlander is working almost as well as the cellpro did. Iv just lost faith in the cellpro 10s and after having 4 months of downtime every 6 months im not at all happy and might end up looking into legalities of whats termed 'fair repair time' (the loose term used in retail legislation). Otherwise Im going to be out of warranty and out of pocket. Maybe it doesnt like charging 20ah 24v lifepo4 batteries. Who wants to buy a cellpro 10s off me when it turns up lol?

Before doing anything why not PM Andy (Optifuel) he currently distributes Cellpro. He'll probably offer you the best course to resolution.
