  • What do i need?

Im looking to progress onto my second heli and i have been told about the raptor 50 se which seems like quite a good piece of kit and everyone seems to like them, or doesnt have much bed to say about them! Although as i am a beginner to this hobby and i have only got a blade cx2 at the moment i dont actually know what i need. I know i need a heli and an engine and a transmitter but what else is there.
Im looking for a list of
    • the best 50 size engine
    • What i actually need
    • What transmitter to use?
    • Do i use spektrum?
    • How much will it all cost for an average kit?
    • Is there anywhere where i can buy everything complete?
If you ain't got nothin nice to say. Don't say Nothin!

Engine O.S Hyper 50 with MP5 or Hatori 522 muffler

Transmitter and servos you can use the Spektrum DX7 and its servos. Once your ready to move on change the servos.

    Titan kit about 249 pounds

    Gyro 401 and 9254 servo about 130 pounds(from fast-lads see below)

You will need fuel and field starting gear about another 100 pounds....

I think the total bill is around 800 pounds....

find a Local Club as well.

      Hey,
i would possibly suggest the SE kit over the titan as the metal head and upgrades will stay with you through to hard 3D...
The plastic headblocks can be used for 3D but need to be replaced pretty frequently as they wear out and develop lateral play on the main shaft at high rpm...

Or for just £40 more theres the Knight 50 3D which is as far as i'm concerned a much higher spec heli (after years of being a raptor'holic).

Also just to really throw a spanner in the works my upgraded R50 (beyond SE spec with eccpm yadda yadda) which committed suicide (unexplainable woof and poof) was replaced by a T-rex 600n Sport, which to be blatantly honest, in my opinion is a better kit and helicopter than the rappys :S

They'v had a decade at the top, tired and proven design but modernization is catching up to old faithful...
Still gonna rebuild her though p
