  • Raptor 30/50 V2 Quick UK rear tail box question

I have just purchased a Quick UK tail gear box for my Raptor 50. I have removed the original rear pulley from the original case and noticed that it is not a snug fit when I fit it into the quick uk box and that it can be moved from side to side. Should this be shimmed using appropriate washers or do I also need to buy a quick UK rear pulley?

    Cheers

The Quick tail case will work fine with the standard TT pulley / shaft. The Quick one is optional.

I did some of the testing on these and I don't recall any problems with fitting (I don't have the Raptor any more so I can't look)

Is it possible that you have fitted the pulley the wrong way round?

No, the pully is assembled correctly and I have also tried another pulley but as I say when its on the output shaft and assembled onto the tail case the output shaft can be moved from side to side as there is end play. Its about 0.5mm, I have fitted washers at the moment but I,m not sure if that is the correct thing to do.

Hi dave if the gearbox halves are tight together and there is play on the output shaft then you do need to shim it.
Just a thought but are the output shaft bearings seated the right way round in the casing ?

Some models just need a shim and the tail box is quite a common place for one to be required.

Just a thought - this caught me out - the Raptor pulley can be put together incorrectly, very easily and this results in play of about 2mm. My guess would be yours is like this, easy to check though, is it like this in the old gearbox? I flew mine like this for months before a crash - not becuase of this - caused me to go over the heli in some detail. There are a couple of posts about it on the net ... I think this is the alloy one-piece tailbox he is talking about.
If there is some play then you definitely need to shim it, movement of the tail shaft means it will alter the tail blade pitch (albeit only slightly).

Thanks eveyone for for help and advice. Just to be clear this is a one piece alloy Quick Uk tail box I'm taliking about. I have now assembled it and when I inserted the alloy cross piece that is supplied with the case this seems to have pulled the sides in slighly just enough to give less than 0.5mm play/slop, which I would guess to be acceptable?

Once again thank you all. What a great web site this!!

              Cheers
