  • cheap inverted training aid

im sure everyone has one of these cheap co-axel helis, and ive converted mine to fly upside down to help me learn the basic stick movements. all you need to do is move the top pair of blades down to the bottom, and turn the blades upside down and vise versa for the bottom pair of blades.
once thats done your ready to go. hold heli upside down, increase the throttle and away you go.

I fail to see how an inverted coaxial would teach you anything, Yeah perhaps a little stick control but a coaxial practically hovers itself.

                    an MCPX however..

Yes but you have to get the MCPx inverted, with a coax thats easy. Its only useful for learning which way to move the stick in different directions, has to be worth a shot if you've got one gathering dust

The whole point was to make it easy. IF you can get your mcpx inverted you have to be very sensitive on the sticks, and chances are if your learning, you soon start to lose control because you get disorientated and over compensating the stick movements and crash...
With the co-axel, it's slow and steady. I know it won't move a great deal but that was the point. It let's you learn the orientation and stick movements with out the heli flying away at a silly speed if you get the stick movements wrong.
It's helped me alot anyway. More than my mcpx has

Surely your throttle/pitch collective control will be backwards? Up for up and down for down rather than up for down and down for up?

There is that but I was thinking more of the cyclic movements, that's what I've had to practice, I'm fine with the collective controls when the heli is inverted, but I see where your coming from, it could teach you bad habits
