  • Video editing software

After seeing Dan's fantastic job with the video from the world record day it got me thinking I really need to get round to sorting out my home video (editing it down). I don't have any video editing software at the moment but am looking for something that can work with my AVCHD content shot on my old canon HF10. I think Dan was using Sony Vegas 10 but just wanted to find out what others used and what you liked. Anyone got adobe premiere Elements 9 or Corel's Videostudio?

I'm going Final Cut Pro on my mac with Motion 5 effects, sounds like your PC based though, from many readings they are both much of a muchness & down to personal preference...

I've gor Vegas 10, Adobe Premier Elements 8, After Effects CS5 and some other cheaper one's. Vegas is definately my choice for easy editing and then I've just got Magic Bullet Looks 2 for some easy colour correction.

Windows movie maker is ok. You won't get as much control as any of the others mentioned but then there are ways to get them free if you were so inclined.

As always guys many thanks for the suggestions. Looks like it's time for me to get my finger out and just give it a try so I'll probably have a play with tue Vegas trial and then Oder it up.

Also make sure you have enough processing power & memory to render the scenes, the more the better

I had a go with most of the above but found Cyberlink Power Director 9 the best for me, look at the reviews, it is much easier to use than Sony Vegas and is also 64bit.
                          Cheers

Dan is costing me a fortune. Why did he make a good job of the RCHA trailer. No wonder i'm penniless. Seriously I've not been so obsessed since I started flying helicopters, now I think I can be the next Hollywood super film producer.

Bought the camera Saturday, filming on Sunday, hope to post my first attempt tonight. All I need now is sleep, it's so addictive.
