Well, following the debacle that is the “FL deleted my account”, and “WHY?” I decided that the underlying point was missed, and that I am going to refrain from posting again, ever. Not because my toys are flying out of the cot, but because there seems to be an undercurrent on the forum that is, perhaps, industry led either directly (unlikely), or by so called ‘fan boys’ who are in turn only trying to do the right thing their eyes for the companies they support – which flies in the face of what the forum is about.
The underlying reason for the “FL deleted my account” is this:
CC seem to have a safety issue. A rather serious safety issue. Following a major field fire, and perhaps pressure from this and other forums, they have decided to offer a very limited response. i.e. A recall note about a single line of esc’s. That is a good start, sure, and one must consider their position. A lot can be said about the wishy washy nature of the recall, but we will leave that until later. The thing that has got me riled is that they, and FL have tried to pull the wool over our eyes and they have executed a ‘damage limitation plan’.
Let me qualify this statement:
Through FL (but their post) they have claimed a 3% failure rate. This is utter nonsense. I have been in the electronics manufacturing game my entire life, and not even Sony achieves a 3% failure rate on a reliable line.
I made the point that is rubbish by starting the POLL, and thereby subtly offering them the chance of changing tack slightly.
But really, it’s not even this that has really gotten under my goat, the thing that has really done it is the tactics i.e. deleting my account.
The message is clear: Don’t rock the boat or else....
I can explain this from a number of different directions, and throw in many more facts, the point is that this is not an emotionally fuelled attack on FL, it is a warning from me to YOU that unless we let the big boys know that we will not stand for it, they will be free to control the hobby and feed us with what THEY want us to swallow.
I could go on and on about how I do not have a vendetta against FL, indeed I have spent a lot of money personally (and still would ) and have ( and still do ) point the many people I have helped, and continue to help to FL, as on the whole, they offer a great service.
Trouble is they are becoming too influential (which itself is not a problem if they play fair and in the interests of the hobby) and their tactics are not in the interests of the hobby – as demonstrated by their petty attempt at sending me a message : I.E. deleting my account.
...and THAT, my friends, is what the posts were about. The act of deleting my account is between FL and myself, and is not of interest to the community, the REASON they did IS.
IS the point getting across?
So, if FL refrain from trying to take us for mugs (easily done, just don’t comment on the forum or feed us BS) then FINE, no worries, we can then work on getting the underlying issues resolved (CC fires). Because if we don’t then we will continue to be fed these products.
Back to the original issue: I feel for CC, they must be watching their company dissolve in front of them, which is terrible. However, this does not change the fact they their entire range of esc’s seem to be prone to spontaneous fire. Someone is going to get hurt, never mind the costs involved.
I can't sit idly by and wait until even bigger disasters happen while the likes of FL try and ‘sweep the issue under the carpet’ - IMO of course
If they choose to take a stance in this issue (which they have) then they are putting themselves in this position. Fine! Great! Just deal with it properly and don’t take us for mugs or use bully boy tactics.
FL: it’s not too late, this issue still needs to be resolved – you can come out of this as shinning knights still! – it is the direction that you choose to take from here that will count.
Forget my account, I could not care a toss – there is nothing you do that I can’t get from elsewhere, just keep us informed as to what is being done to resolve the CC issues (seeing as you have taken it upon yourselves to get involved), and please, please don’t try and pass us off. Rather say nothing than stand behind BS.
