  • Other good engine..?

I've been waiting >2 weeks for an OS50 hyper engine and getting quite 'keen' to get my bird airworthy again, the shop I'm buying from still can't get the stock and say they won't have them in until end of the week at earliest, seems to be the story at other places too, should I just wait or is there a good alternative for my Raptor? He suggested a Thunder Tiger 50, but I've heard they get a bad rap in general though. Any other suggestions? Cheers.

YS50 - Quality engine. Positive pressure fule system and unrivalled throttle response right through the range - beats the OS engine hands down in that respect. Maybe not quite so much power, but that's marginal really.

TT50 - plenty of grunt at full chat, but rubbish through the rest of the range. It'll only ever be a second best to a YS or an OS, so you'll end up getting on of the decent engines eventually anyway!

Wouldnt buy anything but OS now had far too much frustration with other makes of engines in the past.
Have you tried kevsracing bits in surrey.
OS50 HYPER LINK says it's in stock on his website.

          Hi

Currently there is nothing and I mean nothing that comes close to the 50 Hyper, lots will say try this and try that but all of them have their failings, the 50 Hyper isn't perfect but is is easily the best still.

European wide shortage of them at the mo, should be available again shortly I have been told

          Cheers

You can't beat the Hyper, i havn't tried the YS50 so can't comment. Do not try anything other than these because there is nothing worse than pi$$ing about having to tune the thing (and get no where) when you should be flying.

I have to say though the YS50 has impressed me thus far, even with only one flight and a three tanks through it on 30% Magnum I've found it smooth and very responsive....I'm not sure who the UK importer is I got mine from abroad.

I posted a small vid !! on the SpartanRC Gyro thread with only 2.5 tanks through it and factory settings see for yourself what they run like.

                    Me too.

I've sorted out the carb barrel issue - very lightly polished the end of the barrel retaining bolt, and re-jigged the servo geometry to stop the throttle arm from getting so close to 180 degrees.
